The Challenge

The vessel reported a critical fault on its Sperry Marine Bridgemaster X-Band Radar, with transmission alarms and a non-rotating scanner. During inspection, our engineer identified multiple component failures caused by power fluctuations, requiring detailed troubleshooting and replacement of damaged electronic assemblies. The service also highlighted that both the X-Band and S-Band radar magnetrons had reached high transmission hours and would require planned replacement to ensure long-term reliability.

Following this initial attendance, Marine Forte Enterprises was awarded the follow-up assignment to carry out the recommended preventive maintenance and equipment replacement.

Our Solution

Our engineering team mobilized promptly with the required OEM service kits and replacement components.

The scope of work included:

• Complete annual servicing of two Sperry Marine Navigat MK1 Gyro Compasses.

• Replacement of gyro service kits following OEM procedures.

• Performance verification and heading stabilization.

• Replacement of magnetrons on both X-Band and S-Band radar systems.

• Radar transmission testing from low to high ranges.

• BITE (Built-In Test Equipment) diagnostics.
